The Cake, a contemporary dramedy based on current events, opens at Salem’s Pentacle Theatre Feb. 28 and runs through March 21.
THE STORY
Della is a small-town baker in North Carolina, with a big passion for cakes and the Bible. Her husband, Tim, makes all of the decisions and she’s perfectly fine with that. One day, Jen — the girl Della practically raised as her own — comes back to town and asks Della to bake a cake for her wedding. Della is delighted until she meets Jen’s fiancée, Macy. Della’s faith and love of the Bible are challenged, and she must make one of the hardest decisions of her life.
This show is deliciously funny and explores how very different people can find a place of understanding.
THE CAST
The cast of Pentacle Theatre’s production of The Cake includes Jodi Mills Deming as Della, Joe Martin as Tim, Becky Bond as Jen and Claire Snyder as Macy.
