Auditions for Urinetown are Jan. 30 at Pentacle Theatre lobby
About the show: Tony Award winner Urinetown is a comic exploration of greed, love, revolution and musicals, in a time when water is worth its weight in gold.
Auditions: 1 p.m. Jan. 30.
Where: Pentacle Theatre lobby, 324 52nd Ave. NW, off Highway 22 about 6 miles west of downtown Salem.
Callbacks: 2 p.m. Jan. 31.
Where: Pentacle Theatre’s rehearsal space. 145 Liberty St. NE, Salem OR 97301.
Things you need to know:
- Please arrive promptly by 1 p.m. and plan to stay as late as 5 p.m.
- Your audition will include singing, dancing, acting and ensemble work. Dress comfortably and be ready to sing, move and dance.
- An accompanist will be provided for your singing audition.
- You may bring your own accompanist or an accompaniment CD.
- First read-through: 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3, at the Pentacle Theatre rehearsal space, 145 Liberty St. NE in downtown Salem.
Things you should bring:
- A prepared song from a different musical comedy, which includes a verse and chorus of about 32 bars that best shows your vocal range.
- Sheet music for the accompanist.
- Your own accompanist or a music CD if you are using one.
- Your calendar and a list of your conflicts through May 7.
Character roles: 11 men and nine women, plus additional chorus parts. Doubling and multiple roles are possible.
Officer Lockstock
The tongue-in-cheek narrator of our story. A corrupt policeman who secretly kills off the “guilty” offenders. Bold, brash, and larger than life in many ways.
