What steps will you take to ensure the financial health of Pentacle Theatre?

I will ensure the financial health of Pentacle Theatre by keeping the theater’s budget, income, and expenses at the forefront of every board decision. I will also use my position as a board member to review expenses and determine, with other board members, what costs can be reduced or fully avoided to even further strengthen the financial health of Pentacle Theatre; I believe this is something that should be done on a regular basis.

Describe how you will represent the theater.

I will represent the theater by being fully committed to Pentacle Theatre’s mission statement. In and out of board meetings, I will be respectful of others, supportive of new ideas, and spread the joy of the theater. I believe that, as a board member, it is my duty to adhere to the mission statement at all times to show our community what Pentacle Theater represents: a community driven theater experience that is welcoming and inclusive.

What volunteer work have you done for Pentacle Theatre?

I have not yet done any volunteer work at Pentacle Theatre.

What is your day job? What is your level of responsibility at this job? What other relevant experience or education will you bring to board service.

I currently work as a Client Service Associate for a financial firm, Keudell/Morrison Wealth Management. At my job, I work with the advisors to put together investment reports and financial analyses for client meetings. I also research various issues or questions that arise so that I can provide solutions and answers to our clients within a timely manner. I am also responsible for creating and revamping our marketing materials using my graphic design skills.

Please describe the skills and core competencies that you will bring to the board.

If I am voted on as a board member, I plan to bring the skills I have gained through my professional, educational, and personal experiences. I am someone who is dedicated to my work and my passions. I am always on the lookout to learn new things or find more effective ways to do tasks. My integrity is something that I rely on when making all my decisions in life, whether that be personal or professional. My communication, collaboration, organizational, and multi-tasking skills will also be valuable as a board member as I work with other members on various items.

What do you like most about Pentacle Theatre?

What I like most about Pentacle Theatre is the vast representation and inclusion. I was fortunate enough to see She Kills Monsters and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of representation shown. As someone who comes from a state that is not as inclusive, I was overjoyed to see characters on the stage who gave a voice to groups who are rarely, or not positively, represented. I can only imagine how powerful it must be for those marginalized groups to see themselves represented in a positive light on stage. I also very much enjoy how community-oriented Pentacle Theatre is. All are welcome to audition, volunteer, watch, or get involved in some way, which I believe is the key to maintaining and growing the established organization which is Pentacle Theatre.

Tell members why you want to be a member of the Pentacle Theatre Governing Board.

I would like to be a member of the Pentacle Theatre Governing Board because I want to be a part of something bigger than myself. I want to be able to put my skills to good use and contribute to my community. The mission statement of Pentacle Theatre is one that I truly believe in and I want to be surrounded by like-minded individuals who believe in it too. The theater has always been the place where I felt welcomed, accepted, even celebrated despite my awkwardness, and I want to have a hand in making Pentacle Theatre be that welcoming place for others.

Please describe your goals for your three-year term, if elected.

If I am elected as a board member, my goal for the next three years is to boost the community’s involvement and awareness of Pentacle Theatre. I want to use my connections, resources, and passion to inform the community of what Pentacle Theatre stands for and accomplishes. Another goal that I have is to put in place a regular review of expenses by the board members to see if there are any costs that can be redirected to different areas within the organization, as I mentioned in one of the previous questions. I believe that my goals which focus on community and financial health, are goals that will strengthen the Pentacle Theatre as a whole.
