What: Open auditions for Almost, Maine, by John Cariani
When: 1 p.m., July 29.
Where: Pentacle Theatre

About 6 miles west of downtown Salem, Oregon
Casting: Four women and four men able to play multiple roles, ages 30-60, for Almost, Maine, by playwright John Cariani.

Auditions: Actors will read from the script, copies of which are available on loan at the Pentacle Theatre Business Office, 145 Liberty St. NE in downtown Salem for a $10 refundable deposit. Call 503-485-4300 ext. 22 to arrange for pickup.
Those auditioning should bring a list of calendar conflicts through Oct. 21. If you have a conflict on the audition date, please contact the director, below.

Rehearsals: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Pentacle Theatre’s rehearsal studio in downtown Salem. The director will set weekend rehearsals and work sessions as needed.
Show dates: Friday, Sept. 29, through Saturday, Oct. 21.
About the show: “Thornton Wilder crossed with The Twilight Zone. When the northern lights appear in the sky and the characters shine with the joyfulness of love, it’s hard not to believe that the wintry air of northern Maine isn’t the cure for heartache,” said The New York Post. A valentine to would-be lovers.
Cast of Characters: The director will cast four women and four men able to play multiple characters, age 30-60. The roles include:
Pete and Ginette, a couple who have been dating for a while.
East, a repairman, and Glory, a hiker.
Jimmy, a heating-cooling guy. Sandstone, Jimmy’s ex-girlfriend. Waitress, a no-nonsense gal.
Marvalyn, a woman very good at protecting herself, and Steve, an open, kind fellow whose brother protects him.
Gayle and Lendall, longtime girlfriend-boyfriend.
Randy and Chad, two country-boys.
Deena and Shelly, two country-girls.
Phil, a working man, and Marci, his hard-working wife.
Hope, who has traveled the world, and a Man, who has not.
Rhonda, a tough woman, and Dave, the not-so-tough man who loves her.
