Pentacle Theatre to hold open auditions for Trip to Bountiful

What:  Open auditions for Horton Foote’s classic Trip to Bountiful.

When: 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12.

Where: Pentacle Theatre Lobby, 324 52nd Avenue NW,  Salem, Oregon

Casting:                        

  • 1    Woman able to play 60s +
  • 1    Woman able to play 30s +
  • 1    Woman able to play 20s +
  • 5     Men able to play 35 – 60+

Auditions:  Actors will read from the script, copies of which are available on loan at the Pentacle Theatre Business Office, 145 Liberty Street NE in downtown Salem for a $10 refundable deposit. Scripts must be returned to the office before Sept. 12. Call 503-485-4300 ext. 22 to arrange for pickup. Those auditioning should bring a list of scheduling conflicts for Sept. 12 through Dec. 10.

Callbacks (if needed):    1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13

Pentacle Theatre Rehearsal Studio, 145 Liberty St. NE, Salem, Oregon

Read-through: Tentatively scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14.

Rehearsals: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at the theater’s rehearsal studio. The director will set weekend rehearsals and work sessions as needed.

Show dates: Friday, Nov. 13 through Saturday, Dec. 10.

About the show: This beautiful tale set in the 1940s from acclaimed American playwright Horton Foote follows the journey of Carrie Watts, an elderly woman. She is determined to escape the confines of the cramped apartment she shares with her overprotective son and his bossy wife so that she can visit her childhood home one more time. Trip to Bountiful is a simple, powerful story that journeys to a conclusion both gentle and profound.
