Randy Boyd, executive director of Pentacle Theatre since February 2008, will retire effective Dec. 29.
“Randy leaves having made significant contributions to Pentacle Theatre’s ongoing success,” said Jeff Witt, chair of the theater’s governing board.
“Pentacle Theatre succeeds through the contributions of many passionate and engaged volunteers, its governing board and staff. Randy excelled at honoring and respecting those contributions while keeping a watchful eye on business operations,” Witt said.
During Boyd’s tenure, Pentacle Theatre made significant upgrades to its physical plant, stage lighting and sound equipment. Most visible to the public, Pentacle Theatre — with support from Polk County and neighbors — improved the road from Hwy. 22 to the theater.
He also met his wife, Cathy, through Pentacle. The couple worked as a team preparing meals for the casts of plays, greeting visitors to the office and coordinating the work of volunteers.
“I’m looking forward to being a volunteer and patron at Pentacle during my retirement,” said Boyd. “That, and focusing on Mrs. Boyd.”
The Pentacle Theatre governing board plans to hire an interim executive director while it conducts a search for a permanent replacement to begin in the spring.
